Why should a dentist use T2 Services?

T2 focuses on the dentist and successful integration…not on selling products. By choice in 1998, this remains the primary reason dentists retaining us. Since we have no ties with dental manufacturers or suppliers, there is no incentive for us to design a technology system with more equipment than you need or can afford – plus, you are always guaranteed the truth. T2 prides itself on skillfully planning, developing, consulting, designing, and educating dentists. This is accomplished by:

  • Asking the right questions
  • Always looking after the best interests of our clients
  • Establishing the best integrated system for your practice
  • Offering unbiased recommendations and choosing not to sell equipment
  • Customizing our designs to fit your practices needs
  • Letting us manage your project so you keep focused on your busy practice

How much does the service cost?

The T2 Comprehensive, Check-up, Guidance & Development, and Bid Review services are offered on a fixed fee basis and determined by the level of service and scope of your project. If an upgrade in services is a better fit, no problem…just pay the difference. Bottom line: whatever level of service best fits your needs, you can count on T2’s expertise.

Why is documentation important and what is included with the service?

Documentation acts as an “insurance policy” that holds contractors responsible for their work. Without these drawings there is no recourse if something were to go wrong. Here are a few of many schematic drawing examples included:
  • Exclusive guide to selecting an intraoral camera
  • Network layering diagram
  • Operatory wiring schematic that supports the design
  • Computer network drawing showing all locations
  • Ceiling conditions and mount backing requirements
  • Ergonomic equipment placement supporting design
  • Central server closet and cooling

We will supply a detailed equipment “shopping list” for competitive bidding. This process ensures bid accuracy, fair pricing and great for negotiation once verified. This shopping list always ties back to the plan. Remember, pricing becomes skewed and misleading when comparing apples to oranges. Did you know that 75% of the bids that T2 verifies are inaccurate? This is telling statistic and validates the importance of a documented plan.

What are the key advantages using design professionals as opposed to implementing high technology on their own?

The least expensive way to integrate technology is to do it right the first time. Dental technology is exclusive to dentistry and other industries simply don’t compare – above all in the treatment room. There are hardware conflicts and software nuances that can cause undesirable results. Computer firms are inconsistent with their solutions and expertise levels – mostly due to the equipment manufacturers that they purchase from and their experience. They often offer “their way” with little regard to your practice. With dentistry's unique functional and ergonomic requirements, partner with a design professional to minimize mistakes and unneeded expenditures to get it right the first time.

What technology problems are dentists experiencing?

One misconception is assuming that all computers are the same. They may look the same from the outside but the essential parts could be totally different inside the box. Dental software manufacturers hint of these issues but you have to dig for the information. Computers operate at different performance levels and are sold as such. By thinking that the least expensive computer is the best – is simply not true.

The support offered by dental manufacturers and dealers is limited to their respective products unless purchased, in-full, from a single source. Right or wrong this is debatable. What if something went wrong with your equipment - what are your next steps to rectify the problem? How many timely phone calls will it take to fix or replace? Do not assume that any vendor will save the day at the drop of a dime or take responsibility for it. Remember, uptime is an active ingredient of ROI.

What are the most common errors that clinicians make when implementing high technology equipment such as computers, intraoral cameras, and digital radiography in the treatment area?

A common oversight is insufficient end-to-end planning. Technology is much like a new building, if the foundation isn’t good enough to support the building – chances are that it will fall. Second, realizing that you do have choices – the third is recognizing them. These choices are based on how you practice, efficiency, and delivery. If you realize these options, then you are set. If not, then find someone that does. Planning and making reasonable choices don’t happen on the fly. Purchasing decisions should always be tied back to your plan. The “lets wing it” method results in unnecessary and ineffective expenditures.

Ergonomics plays a major role when implementing technology into the treatment area. What are the most important considerations?

One of the primary goals with technology in treatment is to enhance education and communications with patients. The dentist and staff also need access to the patient’s digital chart, intraoral camera, digital x-ray sensors and other dental technology. Ergonomic positioning of equipment allows this to happen – effectively and efficiently. This takes skill, experience and a thorough understanding of treatment room function and totally dependent on how you practice.
